Group Classes:

  1. Each lesson is 55 minutes long, including a short break if the student requires it.
  2. Guaranteed Maximum Class Size:
    1. Beijing/Shanghai/Singapore/Taipei: 6 students per class
    2. Xi’an/Chengdu/Tokyo/Seoul: 8 students per class
    3. Beihai/Ho Chi Minh City: 10 students per class
  3. LTL pays your teacher his/her full time salary whether you come to class or not. Group classes will therefore continue and be charged according to the scheduled teaching plan, independently of attendance.
  4. If you miss a class, LTL can arrange a special 1on1 Make Up Class at the lowest price of Part Time 1on1 of the same school.
    Make Up Class can be taken at the school, Online or your preferred location within LTL Transport Free Locations (see Part Time 1on1 section below).
  5. All classes must be paid in full before the start of each course.
  6. No refund can be given for classes not attended by the student, either voluntarily or involuntarily.
  7. Class schedules follow the LTL Holiday Schedule as published on the LTL Website.

Part Time 1on1 and Online Classes :

  1. A 1on1 hour at LTL is equal to a full 60 minutes (unless you want to take a break in the middle).
  2. Minimum Class duration:
    60 minutes (1 hour) for classes taken online.
    90 minutes (1.5 hours) for classes at the school (60 minutes might be possible, depending on availability).
    120 minutes (2 hours) for classes outside the school.
  3. Class Location:
    1. All private 1on1 classes can be online, the LTL Campus or at your preferred study location depending on classroom availability.
    2. For classes taken outside the school within LTL Transport Free Locations, no Teacher Transport Fees will apply. For locations outside of this range, the Student Advisor will calculate the Fee based on the preferred location.
    3. LTL Transport Free Locations:
      Beijing: any location inside 4th Ring Road
      Shanghai: any location within the limits of Subway Line 4
      Taipei: see Transportation Limits map HERE
  4. All classes must be paid in full before the start of each course, unless part of the Quality Guarantee.
  5. LTL Quality Guarantee:
    1. If a student is dissatisfied with his/her 1on1 classes after the first three hours of class, he/she can choose to discontinue the course and will not be charged for any classes taken.
    2. To use the LTL Quality Guarantee, you have to contact your Student Advisor by email at the latest within one day of your third hour of class and before having started the fourth hour, and inform him/her of the problems you have had. LTL will try to offer an alternative, by suggesting a different teacher, teaching style or methods. However, the student is under no obligation to accept these if he/she believes that LTL teaching standards are not high enough and can cancel the course, without having to pay for the classes taken during the LTL Quality Guarantee Period.
    3. The LTL Quality Guarantee cannot be used if the student used any free classes.
  6. Class Cancellation Regulations:
    1. You can arrange your class schedules at any time that is suitable between 8:00 and 21:00, including weekends, subject to teacher availability, without extra charge. For all other times, please contact us and we will try to make special arrangements for you (or consider the Super Flexible 1on1 program). You can make unlimited changes to your class schedule at any time, go on holiday etc. with at least two weeks advance notice (earlier notice is much appreciated). If you take a sabbatical exceeding two weeks, we will try our best to assign you the same teacher and study times again, but this cannot be guaranteed.
    2. Classes can be cancelled/modified for up to 30% of your classes with a notice at least 6 work hours in advance. To notify us about a holiday (at least a whole week’s break), please send us an email 2 weeks in advance.
    3. Classes have to be canceled/modified by filling out the Class Cancellation Form. Classes that are cancelled/modified with less or no prior notice will be charged, as LTL cannot re-assign teachers at such short notice. LTL pays your teacher his/her salary whether you come to class or not.
    4. If you will be late for a class, please inform your teacher ASAP!
      LTL teachers are both government certified and professional Mandarin Instructors who put a lot of work and pride into preparing your classes and teaching you this fascinating language. Please respect them and their time for it. If you have to cancel class, inform them so at least they don’t have to wait for you. Unless otherwise instructed, our teachers will wait for you up to 30 minutes before they consider a class cancelled.
  7. For Safari Upgrade students, you are responsible to pay for any purchases you make.
  8. When your course is about to finish, please contact your Student Advisor at LTL. If you finish all your hours without purchasing more, your teacher will automatically be assigned to other students.

Super Flexible 1on1 Special:

  1. All of the Part Time 1on1 regulations apply for the Super Flexible program, except those noted below:
  2. Class Cancellation Regulations:
    1. Super Flexible programs can be cancel/modified/re-scheduled in an unlimited fashion without incurring any charges or losing hours.
    2. Classes can be cancelled/modified for 100% of your classes with a note at least 2 work hours in advance. To notify us about a holiday (at least a whole week’s break), please send us an email 2 weeks in advance.
    3. Classes have to be canceled/modified by filling out the Class Cancellation Form. Classes that are cancelled/modified with less or no prior notice will be charged, as LTL cannot re-assign teachers at such short notice. LTL pays your teacher his/her salary whether you come to class or not.

  3. Classes outside of your regular schedule can be arranged at any time with an advance notice of up to 6 work hours before the planned starting time, subject to availability of teachers.

All LTL Students

  1. By making payment for the program, the Student confirms acceptance of the Terms and Conditions listed here, and LTL guarantees the booked course, service and accommodation.
  2. Official LTL Work Hours are 9AM to 6PM Monday to Friday local time.
  3. Force Majeur: If your program is disrupted by an event that is beyond the ability of LTL to control, included but not limited to earthquakes, typhoons, government restrictions due to Covid-19 or otherwise, we will try all we can to arrange a suitable alternative for you. However, we cannot make any refunds for interruptions caused by unforeseeable events and cannot offer compensation and/or refunds for costs that might have occurred.
  4. All participants of LTL programs are expected to adhere to proper conduct and obey our campus rules. Disrespecting other cultures and beliefs, using drugs, engaging in illegal activities, exhibiting violent behavior and other inappropriate conduct in or out of the school will not be tolerated. The Student will be liable for all damages to any persons or property caused by such.
  5. The Student is responsible for a valid passport, visa, medical and travel insurance to cover their period of stay with LTL.
  6. By participating in the program, the Student agrees that their feedback or photos may be used for training or information materials, including but not limited to the LTL website.
  7. The Student understands that according to local laws, CCTV cameras may be installed in some study, accommodation or other LTL areas for security purposes.
  8. Any changes to courses, accommodations or other LTL programs are a lot of work and very difficult for LTL to do and the cancellation fees costly for students, so please try avoid changes whenever possible. Any such changes to the program are subject to availability.
  9. For any changes made to the program once the program starts, a Rebooking Fee will apply, equivalent to 10% of the original program being changed.
  10. Once a third or more of the program has been taken, no further changes  to the program are possible.
  11.  If multiple programs are being changed, either at the same time or at different times, the Rebooking Fee will apply to each program separately.
  12. Refund Regulations: For refund applications made in written form by email, the following regulations will apply based on the time of the application:
    1. At least 14 days before the start of the earliest program: A full 100% refund of the program fee being refunded shall be made.
    2. Less than 14 days before the start date until the start date of the earliest program: A refund of 70% of the program fee shall be made.
    3. After the 1st day and up to one third of the total program: A refund of 50% of the program fee shall be made.
    4. After having participated in at least one third of the program, no changes or refunds shall be possible.
    5. For organizational purposes, including payments, cancellations etc. all LTL programs booked are considered one program, even if the location or course might change during that program.
  13. Refunds shall be made directly to the original payment address in the original method of payment or to an agency if the agency advanced the tuition for a student. Students who paid their tuition fee through an agent must apply for a refund with that agency.
  14. LTL’s Finance is calculated in CNY. Refunds in non-CNY currency will be calculated based on the exchange rate of that day, minus any bank charges.
  15. For any refunds made, a deduction of bank charges and a processing fee equivalent to 150 USD in local currency will apply.
  16. Once visa support documents were issued by LTL to a student, a refund application is only possible with a visa rejection note from the consulate.
  17. If you cancel your program after a visa has been issued to you, you will need to invalidate that visa before being able to apply for a refund.
  18. If you cancel your program after entering the country on a visa applied for with LTL supporting documents, you will have to leave the country immediately. It is not possible to remain in the country on that visa after cancelling your program.
  19. Any discussion of the above shall be made in a courteous and respectful manner, with cooperation and understanding from both parties.
  20. All Terms & Conditions are subject to change without prior notice.

LTL Code of Conduct:

  1. Students must attend every class and complete homework on time.
  2. Students must respect teachers, follow instructions from authorized persons, take care of their study materials, keep classrooms clean after use and take responsibility for their own behavior.
  3. Students must respect their peers and other people involved in the program, and must not harass, threaten, intimidate, harm or insult anyone. Students may not endanger their own or any other people’s health and/or wellbeing.
  4. Students must not be involved in any fights or commit any violent or illegal acts under local law or the law of their home country.
  5. Students must look after their own personal property and must not cause any damage to school property or property belonging to anyone else.
  6. Students should use polite language and gestures at all times.
  7. Minor violations will receive an oral warning. Serious or repeated violations may result in dismissal from the program without refund and, for students under 18 years of age, their parents/legal guardians will be notified.
