Parents are a very important part of a child’s China experience. From choosing the right program, proper preperation for your child’s China adventure to support once your child is in China, parents are usually involved in their children’s program all the way. At the same time LTL has specialized student advisors, children/teen friendly homestay families and support systems like our guardian program to make sure you can send your child to China without having to worry.
Safety is the most important part of any program. Luckily China is not only a very safe country in general, but Beijing one of the world’s safest capital cities and Chinese people in general very welcoming and protective towards foreigners who try to learn the country’s language and experience it’s culture. Family is the most central value of Chinese culture and in a Chinese homestay family, your child will find a family away from home. The food, language, and culture will be very different, but the basic concern for a child’s safety and health is the same. Depening on your choice our homestay families can enforce a curfew or take a more relaxed approach – let us know your preferences. At the same time, our school is a quiet place to relax in the middle of Beijing’s Central Business District, where students can do their homework, make friends with other students or relax, and will always find a member of staff willing to help out with whatever problems there might be.
Academic Progress is of course always the main aim of any stay with LTL. While courses at LTL are designed to be fun, they follow a very strict curriculum to ensure all students make quick progress in their language abilities, including homework and exams. Combined with lifing in a Chinese homestay, where Chinese quickly becomes alive, rather than just a academic subject, you can expect your child to progress quickly. A beginner student with LTL usually masters “basic survival Chinese” within the first week, can engage in basic conversations after three to four weeks and reaches fluency in approximately six to eight months.
Each student receives a Certificate upon the completion of the course, including an assessment of their current Chinese language ability. As LTL is certified as an official language school by various governments and universities around the world, often universities accept a course with LTL as university credit.

I am the father of a teenager, Tiare, who finished school last year. He wanted to take time out to learn a language before going to university and spent a total of five months attending LTL in Beijing. LTL is how a language school should be; fun and dynamic with enthusiastic teachers. It has been an exceptional experience for Tiare. At LTL he made lots of new friends, had a lot of fun and some great experiences. Learning Mandarin and living with a home-stay family has enabled Tiare to gain a deeper understanding of the Chinese way of thinking and the culture.
As Tiare’s experience was so positive, we recently sent his 16 year old sister, Teurikan, to study Mandarin at LTL for a few weeks during her summer holidays. She is now back home, and like her brother, has made real progress in her learning of the language. I thoroughly recommend LTL Mandarin School to anyone wanting to learn Mandarin and gain a better understanding of the Chinese culture.

I was very impressed by the level of preparation of the tutoring team, who had done their homework on the format and content of the AP exam. I believe Matt made great gains during the time he spent in Shanghai. LTL arranged the homestay with a nice family whos son was 13, exactly my son’s age. We have already begun to discuss a return trip to China. Without a doubt, we would return both to Shanghai and to LTL.

Matt spent one week doing an intensive immersion program and homestay at LTL Shanghai
Elaine liked both her teachers, but she especially loved the Beijing Safari, visiting a book store, restaurants etc. with her teacher. We found LTL very flexible and were so impressed that I have already contacted them about our daughter studying with LTL again next March.

Laura spent two weeks studying standard individual and Beijing Safari at LTL Beijing.
