Our Staff

 

Tina Xiang, Director of Studies

Tina graduated from Hebei University with a Bachelor’s degree in Teaching Mandarin as a Foreign Language. She specializes in Spoken Chinese and Business Chinese of all levels. Tina is in charge of all student assessments, as well as supervising program and curriculum design.

“Teaching Mandarin makes me happy because aside from the fulfillment I get helping foreigners, I also learn a lot of things from them. Seeing my students’ become more and more fluent in Mandarin is very rewarding.”

 

 

 

Jia Hui, Immersion Specialist

Hui earned her Bachelor degree in Linguistics and English at Peking University (北大). She loves art and travelling and is herself a passionate portrait painter. She believes that an immersion program creates a pure language environment for students where they are able to develop their listening and speaking skills more rapidly.

“I like working at LTL because it is a place that is always full of laughter and happy faces which makes my job a lot of fun. I think interacting with locals helps students build a more functional vocabulary for daily use. Plus, learning about Chinese culture can add to the student’s understanding of Chinese language and enjoyment of the study experience.”

Spotlight on our teachers

A few of our teachers explain why they enjoy sharing the Chinese language.

Kimi Huang

Kimi is a graduate of Harbin Normal University in Northen China and has a Bachelor’s degree in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. Her focus is on Spoken Chinese for Beginners and Pre-Intermediate learners.

“Every country takes pride in promoting their own culture and language to other people. I see teaching Mandarin as my way of helping my country foster understanding with other cultures to make the world a better place.”

Tiffany Xiao

Tiffany earned a Bachelor’s degree in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language from Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU). She believes that learning characters, even though it may seem daunting, is crucial for the long-term journey towards fluency.

“I wasn’t sure what I wanted as a career until I discovered teaching Mandarin. Sev

en years later, I still love teaching as much as the day I started! I always tell my students that it’s important to be patient when learning Chinese. Just take it day by day, and you’ll be amazed at the progress you make!”

 

Lily ChengTeaching Chinese as a Foreign Language

Lily is originally from Kaifeng (开封)in Henan (河南) and graduated from the University of Zhengzhou with a Bachelor in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. In her free time she enjoys hiking and reading books.

“I always had a strong interest in Chinese traditional culture and being a teacher allows me to share my knowledge and passion with my students. Learning Chinese is more than just memorizing characters and practicing pronounciation. It is a window to another country, culture and history. I want to help my students to understand the world outside that window.”

JacqueliChinese Language ne Yu

Jacqueline is from Yantai (烟台) in Shandong Province (山东) and earned her Masters degree in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Langauge from the University of Nanjing. After work she likes to relax, either by exercising or reading a good book.

“I love languanges and I especially love my mother tongue, Mandarin. Learning foreign languages helped me to understand different cultures and people and I want to help my students to understand China through it’s language.”

 

Lin LiuLTL Chinese Language Teacher

Lin graduated from Haerbin Educational University with a Bachelor degree in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. Originally from Liaoning Province (辽宁) she likes to travel, exercise and watch movies.

“I think teaching Chinese to foreigners is the coolest job one can have. It helps foreigners to understand China and to make friends here and at the same time it allows me to make friends from all over the world and learn about other people’s cultures. It is great fun.”

Sarah earned her Bachelor in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language from Jilin Educational University and likes to discover anything new, especially foreign cultures.

“I love different cultures and finding out about them. In my job I meet people from all over the world every day and not only help them to learn about my culture and language, but also learn to understand them, their way of thinking and how it is different to my own.”

 

Teresa WangChinese Language Teacher

Teresa graduated from Beijing Language and Culture University with a Bachelor in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. She likes to ski, travel and take pictures.

“By teaching foreigners about my language and culture I learn a lot about myself. I find Chinese a very beautiful language and enjoy teaching it a lot. I don’t know if everyone would enjoy doing this, but for me it is the perfect job.”

 

Giulia Wang

Giulia earned her Masters in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language from Hubei University and she says there is nothing she enjoys more than being in class.

“I love being a teacher and enjoye every minute in the classroom. Meeting students from different countries and cultural backgrouns is very interesting. I think I am good at stimulating students interest and make the classroom a fun environment.”
